 > Alumni Association Scholarships
The St. John's-Ravenscourt Alumni Association offers two (2) First Year University Scholarships* to SJR students graduating from Grade 12.
One scholarship is tenable for one year at the Univesity of Manitoba's St. John’s College. The other scholarship is tenable for one year at any university of the student’s choice.
It is important that applicants clearly indicate on their application form which university or college they expect to attend in the fall.
These scholarships are granted and administered by the SJRAA. A committee of the Alumni Association reviews all applications and the awards are made based on individual applicants’ success in fulfilling the criteria set by the Association.
Successful applicants will be required to meet with a committee of the Alumni Association Board; interviews will be conducted in late April or early May. The scholarships will be awarded at Convocation.
To apply, please submit:
- A completed application form.
- A letter to the SJRAA explaing why you are applying for the scholarship. It must detail your involvement in both School and community organizations, programs, and activities over the past few years. The letter should also indicate whether you have exercised leadership, authority or responsibility in your activities and if so, in what way.
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher.
- A letter of recommendation from someone not involved in SJR.
Note: The SJRAA will require copies of each applicant’s mark transcript. By signing the application form the applicant releases permission for the committee to obtain his/her transcripts and these will be used for scholarship purposes only.
Applications: May be obtained from the Senior School Office or by accessing the Application Form. The completed applications should be given to the Senior School Office Administrator Assistant who will forward them to our Alumni Coordinator. Watch the DIS for postings regarding the deadlines for applications which are in early April.
