Vijay Daniels '97 has been nationally recognized with an Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada Clinical Teaching Award. The award, which is only given to one teacher selected from across all of the medical schools in Canada, was awarded to Vijay in early 2018. Vijay, who currently works as an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta, said that he views this award "as a testimony to the excellent mentorship I've had as a learner."

Since he joined the University of Alberta back in 2009, Vijay has become the Director of Clinical Assessment for the MD Program and the Associate Program Director for Assessment for the Core Internal Medicine Residency Program. He is currently working on launching a new interface for providing more detailed feedback to his students.

St. John’s-Ravenscourt School was founded in 1820 principally to serve the children of the Selkirk settlers. By 1834 there were forty students, evenly split between boys and girls. SJR has inevitably grown and changed over the years since, though its success throughout has been unimpeachable. We have graduated 18 Rhodes scholars, for example, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II granted patronage and established a scholarship in her name in 1981. Today the programs are as strong as our reputation. A strong academic program is paired with an equally strong attention to the values of stewardship, ethical leadership, and excellence in all areas of academic, social and athletic life.
