Financial Assistance

St. John’s-Ravenscourt School is proud to offer an extensive needs based financial assistance program. The application process is separate from the admissions process and all students who are offered admission to Grades 6 through 12 at the School are eligible to apply.

For students applying to Grades 6 through 12, financial aid can provide up to 50% of the cost of tuition. Families are required to submit an application through Apple Financial, an independent assessment service, which will assess the needs of the family and report back to the School. The School provides the financial aid support.

How to Apply for Financial Assistance

The School uses a financial aid consultant, Apple Financial Services, to conduct the initial application process. All information provided throughout the process is kept in the strictest confidence.
  • Complete the on-line application form and gather and upload the required supporting documents according to the posted deadlines.
  • There is a fee to apply.
The application for financial aid should be completed as soon as the application to the School has been submitted. The two applications will be reviewed by separate teams - the admission process or decision is not impacted by the fact that a financial aid review is also underway.

Apple Financial Services staff will analyze the application and provide a recommendation directly to the School.

The School will make the final decision on the amount of financial aid granted to the family and contact applicants, in writing, regarding the amount of funds awarded.

The deadline to apply for financial aid is the end of February each year.

  • Red River Scholars Fund

Students entering the School in Grades 9 – 12 only for the first time may be eligible to receive an additional tuition reduction annually until graduation through the Red River Scholars Fund. This is a very limited fund intended to attract the most well rounded students to the School, regardless of their ability to pay.

    (Boarding Students are not eligible.)

The Red River Scholars Fund is not a scholarship and therefore it is not directly tied to a student’s academic performance. Rather, it is based on the financial needs of the family to assist with paying for tuition.

St. John’s-Ravenscourt School was founded in 1820 principally to serve the children of the Selkirk settlers. By 1834 there were forty students, evenly split between boys and girls. SJR has inevitably grown and changed over the years since, though its success throughout has been unimpeachable. We have graduated 18 Rhodes scholars, for example, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II granted patronage and established a scholarship in her name in 1981. Today the programs are as strong as our reputation. A strong academic program is paired with an equally strong attention to the values of stewardship, ethical leadership, and excellence in all areas of academic, social and athletic life.
