Patron Program

The SJR Alumni Association is pleased to present a new program that engages alumni by providing significant recognition and networking opportunities to the SJR community in Winnipeg and abroad. The SJR Alumni Association is a global network of individuals that support one another through the common bond of having attended SJR. The Alumni Association represents over 7,000 alumni from St. John’s College School, Ravenscourt School and St. John’s-Ravenscourt School combined.

Over the years, the Alumni Association has contributed over $500,000 to fund annual scholarships, preserve our school history by establishing and supporting the Martin H. Ainley Archives Centre, fund special projects and many capital initiatives. We are proud to support initiatives that have special meaning to alumni and those that continue to enhance the educational experience of students today and well into the future. Proceeds from the patron program will support the SJR Alumni Association and these initiatives.

The Patron Program strengthens our relationships with the SJR community and allows the SJRAA to offer more inclusive engagement opportunities, throughout the year, free of charge, and at reduced rates for all alumni and friends.

    • Thank you to our platinum patron, W.P.G. The Wealth Planning Group

W.P.G. The Wealth Planning Group Inc. began back in 2011 when Jason Bonneteau and Mike Silver took an opportunity to purchase a company and grow it into the successful business that it is today. Leaving behind management roles at a top Canadian financial services firm (where they had worked together for eight years prior), they decided to take the plunge and build up their own business - learning everything they needed to along the way. Whereas most companies in their industry specialise in just one field, Mike and Jason decided that W.P.G. would be a specialist in multiple areas. "We’re a little bit of a different firm,” Jason explains - a difference which has led to their “exponential growth” over the past 12 years. Now with 7,000 clients, 13 staff and office locations in Winnipeg, Brandon, Toronto, Vancouver and Deloraine, W.P.G. is a thriving financial services business offering insurance, employee benefits, income tax and investment planning.

For both Jason and Mike, philanthropy is incredibly important. When it comes to the areas that they look to support, children and education are their top priorities, and their giving reflects that. Jason’s daughter, Katsia, is now in Kindergarten at SJR, and from the very beginning, he and his wife were excited to be a part of the School and the SJR community, which they see as one of the “big parts of the School’s success.” They try to be as involved as they can, participating in everything from committees to fundraising events. “We’re excited to grow our philanthropy to include the School,” Jason explains. When the opportunity to support the Alumni Association through the newly-established Patron Program was presented to them, both Jason and Mike were keen to be a part of it. W.P.G. is now a proud supporter of the Patron Program at the Platinum Level. As Jason says, “we wanted to give to SJR in the capacity that’s best for the School and this opportunity was the right fit for our business and our philanthropy.”

Proving sponsorship to a charity or to a charitable event is not a give, and a charity generally cannot issue a receipt for sponsorship”

SJR will issue invoices for receipt of payment to businesses in place of a charitable tax receipt.  Should the business opt-out of receiving recognition, a tax receipt can be issued.  This applies to businesses only.

Individuals will receive a tax receipt in the full amount of their patron level minus a portion of the cost of tickets received.
