  • Issuing Tax Receipts

In accordance with CRA, charitable tax receipts cannot be issued to businesses for sponsorship of events.  CRA defines a sponsorship as “when a business makes a donation to a charity and, in return, receives advertising or promotion of its brand, products or services. Proving sponsorship to a charity or to a charitable event is not a give, and a charity generally cannot issue a receipt for sponsorship”

SJR will issue invoices for receipt of payment to businesses in place of a charitable tax receipt.  Should the business opt-out of receiving recognition, a tax receipt can be issued.  This applies to businesses only.

Individuals will receive a tax receipt in the full amount of their patron level minus a portion of the cost of tickets received.
